Do people really care about browsers? Personally I doubt many normal people do. Even most not normal people ain’t very bothered. They use Safari if on a Mac or Firefox for Windows.
It could be argued things are rather different when it comes to mobile devices though, because of issues such as screensize, support for video playback (i.e. Flash and other web gizmos), not to mention how apps handle fluctuating bandwidth.
Anyhow, Skyfire – a free browser for Windows Mobile and Symbian – is on the rise, and it’s just announced its version 1.0 release.
During its prolonged five months in beta, over a million people have downloaded it.
Skyfire says that’s because it’s the only browser to let you watch any web video through support for Flash 10, Silverlight 2, Ajax, Javascript plus the fact that it’s very fast to load pages, and enables you to share and publish any web page to Facebook and Twitter with one click.
And next up comes news Skyfire will support BlackBerry, adding another potential 21 million users to the equation.
