eBay Mobile is go… but only on O2?

ebaymobile_v3.jpgeBay on your mobile is a marvellous idea, if only so you can make sure you win that Ming vase despite being on the bus when the auction closes. eBay’s already launched on O2’s i-mode mobile service, but now the companies have signed a new deal to offer eBay through O2’s normal O2 Active portal (i.e. the one that most customers have access to).

According to this story on Netimperative, the WAP site will have all the regular ‘My eBay’ features, as well as letting you bid in real-time on all the same items as if you were sitting at a PC. However, I was puzzled about why, if it’s a normal WAP site, it’s only on O2.

But it’s not - according to the eBay Mobile website, you can reach it whatever operator you’re on just by visiting www.ebaymobile.co.uk from your phone. So the O2 announcement is more a promotional thing, I think. Anyway, stand by for a Hands On with it this week.
