I’ve been poking my nose into the website for Nokia’s new N93 Golf Edition, a version of its cameraphone that’s customised specifically for golfers. And I mean proper golfers, who play in the real world, not people who take the odd virtual swing on a mobile golf game.
The phone comes with a preloaded application called Nokia Pro Session Golf, which lets you video your own swing, and then analyse just how bad it is, share it with friends or your coach, and download video lessons to improve your game. About the only thing it doesn’t come with is a pair of Pringle trousers.
The one drawback as far as I can make out is that if you want to record your own swing, surely you have to get someone else to hold the phone? And so that’ll mean teaching them how the software works to ensure they capture you at the right angle and distance. Still, it’s a novel idea. I wonder if they’ll bring one out that’ll improve my Crazy Golf putting…
