I wrote about ROK Mobile’s new Viper Voice-over-IP service when it was announced last week – in short, you can make Internet phone calls from your mobile for free to anyone else who’s also got Viper. However, the service has come in for some criticism for not really being mobile VoIP, because it relies on being within Bluetooth range of a PC with a broadband connection.
“It’s the pitching it as “Free Mobile VoIP†that’s a little across the line,” writes Carlo Longino on MobHappy. “But I guess “use your mobile as a Bluetooth headset for PC VoIP calls†(aka the truth) doesn’t sound quite so snappy.“
