All good things come to an end and so it is that after five months of frantic snapping, the pocket paparazzi can finally put down their phones as our mobile citizen journalism photo competition has come to an end.
All that remains now is to decide which of the short listed photos (we got to 14 in the end) deserves to be crowned the winner and for that we need your help.
As of tomorrow we’ll be posting a poll with all 14 entries and asking you, the discerning, Pocket Picks-visiting public to have your say and vote for the winner who’ll take home the Nokia N73 and the prestigious inaugural Pocket Picks/Scoopt mobile photographer title!
Before we get onto that though, let’s take a look at the final week’s finalists.
1. Cheeky Monkeys (Ian McLean)
In their own words: Taken in Glasgow’s Central Station shortly after the smoking ban was introduced in Scotland, this poster for the Arctic Monkeys (I think!) was removed the next day.
2. US election drags on (Jorma)
In their own words: Halloween Night in West Hollywood and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s re-election campaign gets some rather unusual support.
3. Baghdad moblogger (Anonymous)
In their own words: This is one of very few monuments to Saddam Hussain remaining in Baghdad.
4. Party balloons (Kevin LJ)
In their own words: Loi Krathong is one of the most significant Buddhist festivals. Due to it’s wide appeal and many fireworks, lanterns and festive traditions it is hugely popular with tourists and locals. Launching of hot air balloons symbolises the release of guilt and sin and sickness and brings belief of good luck and happiness.
Congratulations to everyone who entered, good luck to those of you who are still in the running and if your picture wasn’t selected then better luck next time and remember you can still have a say in who wins by voting for your favourite picture!
