Vote for your favourite mobile photo in the competition final

Final vote mobile photo competitionSo here it is, after five long weeks and literally thousands of mobile photos, after hours of heated debate over selecting the shortlists, we’ve whittled it down to the final 14 pictures that are vying to win the prestigious title of Scoopt/Pocket Picks mobile photographer 2006 and a rather lovely Nokia N73 phone.

They’re all smart snaps in their own way, but only one can take the prize.

Now it’s all up to you the Pocket Picks reading public to decide. We’ve listed all the photos below and all you have to do is make your selection from the photos at the bottom of the page and press the appropriate poll button below, and then tell your friends and family to do the same!

And don’t forget to head back on Friday 17th November when we’ll be declaring the overall winner…

Dump photo - week 1 winner Scoopt/Pocket Picks mobile photo comp 1. Dump - Peter Wooton
In his own words: The photo was taken on the A414, the cross-Herts route which runs from the west of the county and on towards Felixstowe in Suffolk. The sign is in a layby about halfway between Hatfield and Hertford. I come from Watford originally and having lived in an urban environment where the gas works once ruled, I appreciate very much the English countryside and get irritated when it’s blighted unnecessarily.

Glacier photo - week 1 winner Scoopt/Pocket Picks mobile photo comp2. Glacier - Sara
In her own words: We recently visited Alaska on a cruise and saw some absolutely extraordinary sights. This picture was taken as we cruised past the Hubbard Glacier and I managed to catch a large chunk of ice falling from the glacier into the water.

Kook photo - week 1 winner Scoopt/Pocket Picks mobile photo comp3. Kook - Olley Talibudeen
In his own words: Hugh Harris, lead guitar of the band ‘The Kooks’. Upset as he wants to spoon eat his mayonnaise in peace.

Pocket Picks photo competition - you can't park there

4. You can’t park there! - Freddy Boutrot
In their own words: I was in Cyprus last summer and was pleased to discover that Cypriots drive very courteously.
However many of them made a mess of parallel parking; despite several parking manoeuvres during more than fifteen minutes, the sea was the only way out for this car.

Pocket Picks photo competition - slippery roads ahead

5. Caution, slippery roads ahead - Marek Szala
In their own words: This picture shows how the roads look in the Ukraine after a rainfall. I reckon that driving in this country is a real challenge!

Pocket Picks photo competition - police, camera, sun cream

6. Police, Camera, Sun Cream - Mo Elandi
In their own words: I was in Spain sitting on the beach when this police car appeared out of nowhere patrolling the empty beach!

Going Dutch7. Going Dutch - Jos van Leeuwn
In their words: Amsterdam is well known for its
canals, red-light district, legal dope and all that.

However, they are now giving a whole new meaning to the expression ‘Public Toilet’.
And really, what’s worse than having to wait for a tram or bus when you ‘re feeling ‘the need’? Here’s our solution!

Hot Chocolate8. Hot Chocolate - Wasisuhail
In their words: Chocolate Heaven - a roadside shop in India

Thinly veiled9. Thinly Veiled - Phil McElhinney
In their words: The advert shows a woman holding a cookie. Her face has been blacked out because she is not wearing a veil.

Education education education10. Education, education, education - James Symington
In their words: National demonstration in London against student loans and college fees

Arctic Monkeys smoking poster11. Cheeky Monkeys (Ian McLean)
In their own words: Taken in Glasgow’s Central Station shortly after the smoking ban was introduced in Scotland, this poster for the Arctic Monkeys (I think!) was removed the next day.

Arnie re-election campaign drags on12. US election drags on (Jorma)
In their own words: Halloween Night in West Hollywood and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s re-election campaign gets some rather unusual support.

Saddam Hussein poster13. Baghdad moblogger (Anonymous)
In their own words: This is one of very few monuments to Saddam Hussain remaining in Baghdad.

Buddhist balloon festival 14. Party balloons (Kevin LJ)
In their own words: Loi Krathong is one of the most significant Buddhist festivals. Due to it’s wide appeal and many fireworks, lanterns and festive traditions it is hugely popular with tourists and locals. Launching of hot air balloons symbolises the release of guilt and sin and sickness and brings belief of good luck and happiness.
