The UK government has unveiled plans to jail drivers who talk on their mobile phones while driving. This is by holding the handset to their ear, obviously, not for using a Bluetooth headset, which is fine.
Anyway, the new laws are likely to come in next September, and would reclassify non-handsfree chatting as a serious driving offence, punishable by a prison sentence. If you didn’t get the message when the government first introduced fines and penalty points for using your mobile at the wheel, it’s about time for it to sink in.

Using a Bluetooth headset is NOT fine! Tests have categorically shown that it is the distraction of holding a telephone conversation while driving that leads to accidents - not the act of holding the phone to the ear. Tests carried out on both categories of driver led to an equal occurrence of collisions.
