If this was the Willcom XJ220, we’d have had a much easier time when trying to shoehorn a reference to our second-favourite Jag. But it’s not — it’s the Willcom X220J. And it was out in Japan last week, which is where “little Willcom” (as we’ve affectionately come to regard Japan’s fourth most popular phone provider) intends to sell this aesthetically passé handset to aesthetically passé business users. They suit each other very well.
The X220J has none of the fancy features that are wowing blue-collar Japan in 2007 (see: One-Seg digital TV, Bravia displays, 5-megapixel cameras), because business users presumably have no time for such antics. Instead, the X220J has paranoid security features (remote lock included), solid mail and web software (Compact NetFront), and a USB jack. Hit the road!
