Making use of DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting Handheld) broadcasting, the new N77 from Nokia offers true TV-on-the-go. The 2.4″ QVGA 16-million-colour screen, built-in stereo speakers, and proper 3.5mm headphone socket all point toward Nokia being serious about the handset’s TV capabilities.
Running v.3 of the S60 OS, the N77 is hopefully going to prove more reliable out-of-the-box than the recent N73 (the subject of many a vivid post on the Nokia help forum). However, with support for 2GB microSD and all the usual music file formats, the N77 offers a lot of features for its €370/ £250 pre-tax off-contract price. It’s due out mid-2007.
