Boasting voice-guidance 3D GPS navigation, Nokia’s new 6110 Navigator handset is one of the more promising devices announced at 3GSM this morning. Supplied pre-loaded with local maps, the new phone supports HSDPA for up to 3.6 Mbps web browsing and comes with a 2MP camera that has a panorama mode.
At just 101 x 49 x 20 mm when collapsed (it has a slide-out keyboard), the 123g 6110 is a reasonably pocketable size, and comes with support for MP3, MP4, M4A, AAC, eAAC+, WMA music files, played back from a (maximum size) 2GB microSD card.
One of the big themes of this year’s 3GSM is how to get people using their mobiles in new ways. If adding easy-access GPS to handsets isn’t one of the answers to that conundrum, we’ll eat our hats. Even the novelty Viking helmet.
