Hands-on gets FunkySexyCool

funkysexy.gifI’m well aware that header could easily have come from a salacious exchange in an online chatroom - as it happens that’s actually quite relevant. Mobile game publisher Hands-On has just announced a deal with social networking service FunkySexyCool (billed as ‘the online nightclub community’ on its website. Horrifying concept) to distribute the ‘phenonmenon’ across the whole of Europe and Latin America. The site allows users to create their own profiles, message each other, shout at the whole network and vote for the sexiest single guys and girls. Naturally, it’s all ‘monetised’ to the hilt, with a monthly subscription fee, plus extra premium billed services: i.e. the stuff that gets you a) noticed, b) a date.

It’s another indication that social networking is attempting to usurp mobile gaming as the interactive data application.

    Hey, dating worked for the internet so why not mobile?? I have loads of friends who met on guardian online (well, three actually, but one couple got married!)

    be better if the phone buzzed when a faovurite member of the community walked by you in the street though… the excitement! :)

    @Sally
    I’m pretty sure there //are// services like that on phone networks in Japan. I’m certain the developers will be looking into it over here. Actually, I’m interviewing Hands-On next week, so I’ll put this to them!
