Seems like at least one Chinese company is out to do something to combat the oft-reported construction of one coal-fired power station per week in China. Shenzhen-based HTW Electronics has come up with a solar-powered mobile phone, its S116, about which it gave a presentation - but with no actual hardware to show - at CeBIT last week.
HTW claims the S116 can run for 20-25 minutes of talktime from a 40 minute solar charge taken by cells which cover the back of the handset. In other news, the phone also sports a QVGA 240 x 320 screen and a 1.3MP camera. The company reckons the handset will be available in China from April.
