Motorola backs location-aware

Motorola logoIn a bid to boost development of location-enabled/ location-aware apps for its handsets, Motorola has announced its new Location Services Framework. The system is designed to allow developers to more easily link-up the info that’s available on and to your phone.

Motorola puts it as, ‘From mobile search, messaging, contacts, and the mobile browser to social networking applications and the calendar, the platform intuitively facilitates actionable connections between content and the locations associated with them.’

So look forward to your next Moto phone having an interactive map which displays all your nearby contacts and tells you what they’re doing right now according to their calendars. Er, maybe.
