Clearly not content with subsidiary Vertu maxxing-out on the glitz, Nokia today announced this 18-carat gold-plated ‘Sirocco Gold’ special edition of its 8800 handset.
Rocking up, pre-subsidy, at €1000 (£680), the 8800 apparently, “remains true to the ‘form follows function’ mantra of Nokia designers and engineers,” according to Heikki Norta, Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia. Right. So which part of the phone’s functionality requires its form to be coated in gold-plating, exactly?
Still, if exclusivity is important to you in a handset - or having it stolen on a regular basis - then the 8800 Sirocco Gold may be for you.
