That’s the suggestion being made in the bee-keeping community in both the US and now Europe, with studies pointing toward mobile phone signals interfering with the bees’ navigation systems. Bee populations have reportedly fallen as much as 70% in some parts of America, which sounds pretty catastrophic to us, with bees dying lost and lonely far away from the hive.
Evidence pointing the finger of blame at mobiles includes a study at Landau University, Germany, wherein a mobile phone was placed near a hive. Researchers found that bees refused to return while the phone was active. Being nature as well as tech lovers here at Pocket Picks, we’re finding this all a bit… well… distressing.
