The phrase ‘artist-generated content’ is a bit gruesome. Isn’t that what songs are? But no, in record label EMI’s case, it means giving three new bands cameraphones with the Shozu application loaded onto them, and getting them to upload photos and videos to the Web.
The bands are Air Traffic, Gisli and The Aliens, and their content will be popping up on Flickr, YouTube and their own websites. Which could at least mean the first example of grainy gig footage on YouTube that’s of the crowd, not the band.
