A new Nokia 8000-series handset (that looks to be the same phone as in the leaked shots we ran a couple of weeks back), has surfaced on the Carphone Warehouse website.
The site describes the handset as the ‘Nokia High Fashion’ and says it’ll come with a 2MP camera and 1GB of on-board memory (which sounds a little unlikely but you never know). However, it also says that, ‘The Nokia Fashion High mobile phone is so new it doesn’t even have a model number. The rounded corners and smooth features give it an almost-futuristic appearance - as does the on-screen menu system.’
There’s no official word yet from Nokia. Stay tuned for further updates.

i work for cpw and its out i have 1 itsa good fone but does NOT have 1gb of memory
Thanks for the info. There’s been some confusion about this, because Carphone Warehouse originally said the 8600 would have 1GB (when we wrote the story here), then when it announced the 8600 exclusive it said it had 128MB, and then T3 posted a video saying it had 1GB… And then Nokia announced the phone and didn’t say anything about storage at all.
So how much does it have? Can you put us out of our pain?
I bought the phone as soon as it came out, yup certainly it doesn’t have 1GB, it comes with 128 mb on board and no expandable memory. The smoked translucent glass effect is awesome, screen is bigger.
eziiiiiii ma beziiiiiiiiiii luvin ur syteeeeeeeeeeeeeee i fink ur a supastareeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! byeee byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hi Mirza — thanks for letting us know about the memory. We’ve seen a few new pictures of the phone on the web and the smoked glass panel does look good.
i bought a 8600 for just under £400. ne wayz its an awesome fone its a shame about the memory but realli its bang right for a businessman.
i work for carphone it is an upgrade of the siracco, the phone looks great, also the battery life is good, also has a inbuilt mp3 player which you would not really expect a phone to have something like this. this phone is exclusive to carphone for the time being.
Oh come on Rahela, almost every phone can play MP3s these days. And with 128MB of RAM in the 8600 you can only store up to 30 music tracks at once — about 2.5 albums, basically. Not very impressive, really, is it? And it has no memory card slot to upgrade the storage, which is really poor — especially considering the 8600 is more expensive than the N95 on some tariffs — and the N95 is massively more exciting and capable.
Actully Casper your wrong about storage. the new nokia can play the specially compressed m4a music file type. Meaning each music track is actually only around 1mb -1.5mb which means alot more fits on. 128mb is ample with the awesome nokia tools provided that auto sync in with your pc when plugged in. This phone really is great and the smoked glass effect is awesome!
Hi James… Not sure what bit rate you like listening to music at, but any song in MP4/ M4A/ AAC format would have to be severely compressed to be only 1MB. MP3 versus MP4 usually seems to net somewhere between 10 and 25% file size saving, meaning a track is 3MB instead of 4MB at best — unless you’re destroying the sound quality by picking a really low bit rate.
128MB RAM is not cool in this day and age, and even worse is that there’s no expansion slot for adding more. The just-announced 6267 (which is also Series 40-based, same as the 8600), can take N95-style 4GB microSD cards. Now that’s more like it!
dis fone is da bizzlez…
ashame bout da memory tho…
HOWEVER A TECHNICAL MATE OF MINE CLAIMS THAT IS way too easy to replace the old storage ram with an unofficial memory ram.. (most likely from china)
HOWEVER U WILL DEFINATELY VIOD UR WARRANTY!!!!
he says that he gettin in touch with his supplier in china n will get back to me ASAP!!!!
fingers crossed!!!!!
Here you will find full specifications for Nokia 8600 Luna: http://mobile.taume.com/Nokia/Nokia-8600-Luna
I hate peeps that talk nuff s@~t when its obvious they cant afford it. The phone is off the hook and if you want something that plays nuff mp3’s (not mp4’s dick-head), buy an Ipod! Seriously, this phone is classy and for big cats only. If you live a broken down house and driving a cheap old fiesta for a car, then you cant be rockin this kind of phone, as you will look stupid. This ain’t no pay as you go kidz phone like the LG chocolate or the v3 as this is a excIusive phone. I brought 10 of these and ive sold 7 in the states for £600 each. When i sell two more, the money i will have will of paid for mine, so I got mine for free. Ha. Buy this phone. Nicer than the LG prada. Texting on that thing is annoying.
Get a Vertu. They’re flashier, even more expensive, and have even worse technical specs than the 8600
Vertu’s are horrible phones. If i wanted to feel leather, i’ll go to my local Dfs
one of the best mobile i ever seen, may i own this one
i got this phone its alright
the 8600 is a rather nice and very expensive phone. However if you do buy this phone it will be for the design and build quality, and not for what it can and can’t do. If you wanted a phone that would be the most up to date in terms of technology you would buy an N Series phone like the N95 (very good phonw but rather large to carry around). If you wanted a listen to music you would buy an i pod and if you wanted to take pictures you would buy a digi cam and if you wanted to look good you would buy an 8600. The 8600 is aimed at a completely different market altoghther compared with the market that most phones are aimed towards now. There is a fine line between left and right and this phone most certainly falls on the right side.
