Apple to add new iPhone features after release

iPhone new featuresApple has revealed that it plans to add fresh features to the iPhone after it has shipped, saying that it will provide buyers with the ‘greatest possible experience’. Apple Chief Financial Officer, Peter Oppenheimer, confirmed that iPhone will receive, “entirely new applications.” No details were given of what these might be, of course.

The news came during a call with analysts following the release of Apple’s financial results statement (the company made a $770m/ £335m profit in the last quarter of its financial year). Europe is proving particularly hot for Apple right now, with Mac sales up 37% year-on-year.

Given that Apple has a history of providing solid, regular, free updates to Mac OS X, it perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise that it will do the same for iPhone. However, the news that iPhone’s feature set is to be expanded is sure to keep the phone’s hype machine rumbling on.
