Orange has revealed that the latest victim of its Film Funding Board (’Putting the Ding Back in Funding’) UK cinema ad series is American Beauty starlet Mena Suvari. In the ‘Gold Spot’ ad, which runs right before the main feature starts and reminds everyone to switch off their phone, Suvari is cast playing Joan of Arc. But following a marketing intervention by Orange’s Mr. Dresden, she ends up tied to the stake wearing her American Beauty cheerleader outfit. Orange assures this has ‘hilarious results’, which, given how good some of the previous spots have been, is one PR line we’re happy to believe.
