As spotted by Spectrain in our Apple ad post, one shot in the second advert appears to show the bottom row of iPhone applications as full. This indicates that something further up the screen has pushed everything along one — a twelfth app for the iPhone, it might seem. Let the speculation commence!

Updated 21st June: The twelfth icon is… YouTube!

Alright then! Here’s my speculative list!
1. iChat – maybe text only… it would look like the existing iPhone SMS chat
2. Games
3. Another Google app - maybe the Documents/Spreadsheets thing?
4. Something for viewing documents from MS Office - this is meant to be a smartphone, after all.
5. YouTube
I could see iChat offering voice-over-IP chat without video - that would still be a good addition to the phone. And yeah, maybe not ‘games’ plural but one killer game app on the iPhone would really finish the job off, at least in terms of the consumer market.
Latest now is a rumour that the iPhone may have GPS built-in! Click here to read more.
Or maybe: iTunes store? Although that would probably be in the iPod section of the phone, not on the main screen.
Where did you find this picture? Just curious.
Hi Spencer — we screengrabbed the image from one of the new iPhone commercials.
Objects in motion…
It is the icons in animated transition to the ipod interface.
Hi Jac. Watch the second iPhone advert - the icons are definitely not moving in this shot.
Just read on CrunchGear that Apple has started editing the icon out of the videos. Either that means there’s nothing to see, move along, or it is waiting to reveal something on 11th June.
Gizmodo has a story which is claimed to be from a ‘reliable insider’, and whoever it is (the way it’s written reads like someone who works at Apple in some capacity) says that the iPhone has ‘a super top secret feature’.

How odd that Apple is constantly fiddling with the ads on its own website! One of the shots in the first ad now appears to have four icons on the bottom row, and I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t like that before! I think it was only the second ad that had the extra icon! But don’t quote me on that!
They’ve also taken off the line about having to have a two year contract.
So it was YouTube!
