Apple’s iPhone dock can charge the Bluetooth headset too

iPhone dockAs originally rumoured by Gizmodo back in February (see its high-rez artist’s rendition after the jump), word has leaked out via Mac site Think Secret that the iPhone dock does indeed feature a slot to charge Apple’s new Bluetooth headset.

That would mean that the dock will mostly likely be longer than the version shown by Apple back in January, with a second slot for the headset to plug into. Think Secret’s sources also suggest that the dock has two cables running to it, perhaps because the phone needs a dedicated power supply for charging.

In other recent news, the iPhone headset was approved by America’s telecoms regulator, the FCC, for use. The image from the approval doesn’t show the back of the unit so we can’t see which buttons will feature on it.

And below is Gizmodo’s incredible piece of artwork from February, which does give a fair impression of how the revised iPhone dock would be arrange.

I have purchased this Bluetooth headset. It comes with a dock that charges the iPhone and headset together. There is only one fixed powercord. It does indeed resemble the image drawn above but has added capabilities. The headset is held magneticaly in the dock so it does not slip out even if turned upside down and the really good feature is that if both phone and headset are charging at the same time they will automatically sync or bond with eachother. No setting up needed. Good piece of kit but ear bud is quite big and sometimes falls out of your ear. Could do better if there was an additional clip over ear to hold it in place. Also does not come with a carry pouch, so when not in use it’s loose in a pocket or bag. Could benefit from these additional optional features, maybe!
