We reported back in February that Vodafone boss Arun Sarin felt that his company would be a good partner for Apple’s iPhone.
Now ZDNet notes (via LoopRumors) that bankers Credit Suisse think that Vodafone may well be in a strong position to claim the iPhone rights for Europe. It’s chief rival is through to be Deutsche Telekom (owner of T-Mobile).
However, for Vodafone, the lack of 3G in the iPhone could be a sticking point — that’s unless, of course, rumours coming out of Taiwan about a revised iPhone (potentially with 3G added) are true.
If it gets the iPhone deal, and if there’s a 3G iPhone on the way, Vodafone will have to buck-up its ideas about what constitutes a competitive mobile internet data plan.
