It’s not just John and Jane Q. Public that enjoy mobile VoIP

mobilevoip.JPGA study by Coleman Parkes Research has revealed that businesses are increasingly using a greater array of mobile applications and 7 out of 10 global businesses expect to be using mobile VoIP regularly over the next two years.

Up until now carriers have been understandably reluctant to give in to consumer demand for more widespread acceptance of services that could potentially damage their profits.

What may prove interesting is the situation carriers might find themselves in when major businesses start to catch on to the fact that they could save millions through mobile VoIP. Some of Vodafone’s major shareholders, such as Standard Life and the Prudential, could save quite a bit of cash were they to have access to a robust mobile VoIP solution for their employees work mobiles.

Of course shareholders of mobile network operators would stand to loose a fair bit of money themselves if mobile operators were to allow mobile VoIP software providers a free reign. If the potential savings proved to outweigh the share price over time however, operators may need to refocus their services and quick.

Industry pressure from business customers with no financial stake in mobile operators could also prove to be a driver for mobile VoIP. Hopefully we will have a better idea in 2 years time.
