The Times Online reports O2 as the official iPhone carrier in the UK

iphone_2.jpg The news comes on the back of two weeks of rumours and speculation following the iPhone’s release in the US. There has been no official announcement posted on either Apple or O2’s sites (at the time of writing) so we are just going to have to trust The Times Online on this one for now. Either way it looks extremely likely that O2 will be named as the official UK carrier soon.

Vodafone is bound to be a tad miffed at the deal despite industry rumblings that the mobile operator pulled out of the race due to concerns about Apple’s stipulations of the deal. Currently T-Mobile is thought to be the official carrier for the iPhone in Germany and Orange is currently being tipped as the likely candidate for distribution in France.

With all of the speculation for the UK release out of the way (hopefully) all there is left to do is count down the days until Christmas (when it should be arriving, fingers crossed).
