Find your mates with free PocketPC GPS software

findme.gifMore free software for all you cadgers out there. Click apps is a veritable treasure trove of smartphone apps and it’s thrown all you Windows powered PocketPC smartphone owners a free GPS utility app called VITO FindMe.

Before you get excited your device must have a built-in GPS receiver, so this limits compatibility to handful of smartphones including the O2 Xda Orbit, T-Mobile MDA Compact III, Orange SPV M700, HTC P3600 and P3300, plus you must also have a friend using a compatible device installed with the FindMe software. If you fall into these categories then download the app here and get cracking.

VITO FindMe starts with a code word that you give up to your friends. They must then SMS you the said password and in return they receive co-ordinates of your position. Input those into your GoogleMaps app and you’ll see exactly where you mate is playing. Unless you have a scarily possessive Single White Female-esque mate wanting to know your whereabouts 24/7 we can’t see the point of this software. It could have relevance for future usage in the emergency or security services or may be for tracking your kids. But then what 10-year old kid would own a Windows-powered Pocket PC with GPS?
