Pocket Picks reported here (via Mobile Burn) first thing this morning about the imminent arrival of the first BlackBerry device with built-in Wi-Fi. Well, Research in Motion officially unveiled the 8820 not long after and everything we reported rings true. It looks exactly like the 8800, comes with built-in GPS and BlackBerry Maps for sat nav, sports the 8300 Curve’s new look media player with Roxio Easy Media Creator® 9 desktop multimedia software, has Stereo Bluetooth for wireless streaming of music plus a high-rez display.
Something we didn’t mention is it supports microSDHC cards which will eventually hit 32GB in capacity. At the moment 4GB card are available with 8GB coming soon. It’s also worth mentioning the 8820 doesn’t harbour a camera. This mobile email device will be available on selected European networks in the coming weeks, although these have yet to be confirmed, and will hit the US later in the summer.
