Samsung files patent for joystick phone

samsung-joystick-phone.jpgAn interesting new patent from Samsung has turned up featuring a clamshell style phone with one half of the device operable as a joystick for mobile games.

Through the use of a complicated array of magnets and hinges, the actual housing of the phone is used as a means of controlling the onscreen action in exactly the same way as a typical joystick would.

It will be interesting to see whether Samsung decides to actually bring this novel idea to market. If it does, would game developers welcome the idea of factoring the device’s control method to their design when they already have the control nuances of hundreds of more standard handsets to worry about?
