RSI ahoy with the busiest mobile games round-up ever

laralegend.bmpLast week was the busiest in living memory for mobile games on our sister site Pocket Gamer.

The first title to go through the wringer was My Hangman which despite being as easy to play with a pen and paper deserved its 7 out of 10 score based on how packed with content it was.

Resident Evil: The Missions was the next title to undergo scrutiny and made good use of the license with some thoroughbred shooting action pulling it through to a solid 7 out of 10.

Continuing with an action packed theme, Tomb Raider: Legend 3D strutted its stuff on the Nokia N95 with good looks to match its protagonist. Although not a classic by any stretch of the imagination gameplay wise, Tomb Raider: Legend 3D’s tried and tested third person action and gorgeous visuals earned it 7 out of 10.

Stuntman Ignition raised the action bar yet another notch with its automotive lunacy and smashed expectations by grabbing a sturdy 7 out of 10 score.

And so as the action levels dropped the quality bar leapt up yet further. Pyramid Bloxx helped solidify Digital Chocolate’s esteemed reputation with its simple but addictive one thumb gameplay and was awarded 9 out of 10.

Minigolf Revolution: Pirate Park proved to loads of fun and with an eye for fine detail and all manner of fun additions to the genre grabbed 8 out of 10.

And so it wasn’t until the seventh title of the week went under the microscope that standards started to slip and although Lego Brick Breaker was a decent licensed take on the Breakout idea, it lacked the challenge or longevity to deserve any more than 6 out of 10.

It wasn’t until Tamagotchi Angel came along that things really took a turn for the worse. With a distinct lack of playfulness and little reward to motivate prospective digital pet rearers, Tamagotchi Angel was far from heaven sent scoring a poor 4 out of 10.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer turned the tide scoring 6 out of 10 for its decent array of mini-games and Playman Extreme Running saved the week from a sour end with its superbly executed parkour themed platform action being awarded 9 out of 10.

Pocket Gaming addicts are going to need either a third thumb or an extremely decisive mind to cope with this week’s quantity of high flyers. Check back next Monday for what will probably be a slightly less busy week of compact mobile gaming critique.
