As far as we know, the only handsets to feature any kind of biometric security systems are the recently launched Toshiba G500 and G900. These Windows-powered smartphones contain fingerprint recognition pads to fend of any thieving bar stewards. But it seems Oki Japan has developed mobile software to transform the phone’s camera in to an Iris scanner.
The Iris Authentication Middleware is available now for any networks or handset manufacturer to implement and the software works on Symbian or Windows-based devices. The only requirement is the camera strength must be one megapixel and above. Of course this type of technology does throw up accuracy issue but we’ve been assured it gives one false every 100,000 attempts.

if you can get a decent image, iris identification is very mathematically accurate, but seems like overkill for phone security.
