That’s according to the Independent, which may have recycled rumours from earlier this month that O2 had won the rights to partner with Apple for UK iPhone operations. However, nothing is confirmed as yet, and all Peter Erskine, chief executive of O2 had to say on the matter was the usual non-committal business speak:
We’re excited about this product and we certainly hope to be marketing it later in the year when it launches.
Whoever’s landed the deal, if the UK iPhone launch really is due by the end of September then something needs to be announced ASAP so that the marketing machine can kick into action.
