LG readies ‘budget Shine’ but will it come to the UK and Europe?

LG_MG550D.jpgMobile Review has revealed that LG is launching a GSM ‘budget Shine’ slider phone, the ME550D. Unfortunately for us in the UK and all of you across Europe, it’s being primed for the North and South America regions. Still, never say never.

It’s the follow-up to the ME500D and despite Mobile Review’s ‘budget Shine’ tag has a feature set that pretty much matches the original metal-hewn fashion phone. This includes EDGE and tri-band capabilites, a two megapixel shutterbug, 60MB of internal memory backed-up by a microSD card slot, and a built-in MP3 player.

The ME550D weighs in at 90 grams, which is 20 grams lighter than the Shine (suggesting its may not be fashioned entirely from stainless) but is only a tad more compact. If it does rear it head in the UK, you’ll be the first to know.
