Jealous of friends on 3 watching their TV on their phones? SlingPlayer – the service that lets you watch streamed TV on your mobile - could soon be coming to all Symbian devices, not just 3’s X-Series handsets, according to Engadget.
Apparently, Sling Media have launched a hush-hush private Beta test of its S60-based player, opening the service to the wider market. Currently, you can only use SingPlayer with 3’s X-Series handsets, or on Windows Mobile and Palm devices. The testing is to see if SlingPlayer can be standardised to work on all Symbian S60 handsets.
Before you get too excited, the Beta test will only run in the US with testers on WiFi and 3G networks using one of three Nokias: the E65, N75 and N95. The testing is scheduled to last about four weeks and hopefully if all goes well, a wider release might be on the cards very soon.
