The UK’s first mobile shopping mall – 2shop4 – has begun trials before it opens for business in October. Mobile Entertainment reckons it’ll be launched globally in 2008.
2shop4 lets users buy stuff using the mobile Internet and SMS shortcodes. A whole range of brands, high street stores, supermarkets, travel agencies, and more and being lined up for the service.
Those behind 2shop4 expect the shortcodes to be featured alongside products in all manner of media from magazines, TV adverts and billboards, to computer games, film trailers and virtual Worlds like Second Life.
To buy something, shoppers select the product they want, send the shortcode, securely pay on their mobile and get products delivered to their home. User profiling will match clothes sizes and brands, and other products and services to their requirements.
2shop4 works on all operators and with all major credit and debit cards such as MasterCard, Maestro, Visa, Delta and Switch, or via Paypal.
