Pictures of new Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot phone with 3x optical zoom leaked

Cyber-shot.jpg

The guys over at Ubergizmo have got their hands on intriguing photos of what looks like the next high-end Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot phone. Of course they may not be authentic and the images show just the outer shell of the phone but the the most interesting aspect is the lens cap clearly states a 3x optical zoom.

If genuine, this will be the first Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot to carry this type of zoom but the outer husk also hints at a similar design to the five-megapixel K850i Cyber-shot, due for release in the UK around October time. Admittedly there has only been a two UK camera phones with optical zoom thus far, the Sharp 903 on Vodafone and the Nokia N93, but it’s taken a lot longer for Sony Ericsson to produce an optical zoom Cyber-shot model than we anticipated.

It’s true, one of the Sony Reps who comes to our store mentioned about optical zoom being on their phones but for sometime next year. Perhaps it would be based on the K850i design. Perhaps it could be classed as a K880i? I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what the title of the phone would be.

I cant wait til they release a sony ericsson phone with optical zoom. I wonder how many megapixels it will be? Im hoping they can bump it up to 7mp.

That’s false, “If genuine, this will be the first Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot to carry this type of zoom but the outer husk” Check out the Sony Cyber-shot SO905iCS for Japan. It’s got 5.1 MP, 3x optical, etc.
