Fashion label Ted Baker debuts exclusive Samsung and HTC handsets

Moments ago, Pocket Picks brought you news of the new Mandarina Duck handset (see below), now it seems yet another fashion label is getting in on the mobile phone trip. Ted Baker is the latest to join the likes of the Duck, Levis, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada by releasing not one but two of its own branded mobile phones. The renowned fashion house has teamed up with Samsung and HTC to deliver the Ted Baker Button (pictured) and the Ted Baker Tyrian.

The design of the Ted Baker Button is loosely based around the recent G600 slimline slider and arrives in Reef Blue, Coffee and Rouge veneers, not to mention sporting a distinct rear motif. The Button’s feature-set is modest with a two-megpixel snapper, built-in music player and 3G capabilities. The Ted Baker Tyrian is obviously a tweaked HTC Touch devices, using its proprietary TouchFLO technology for operating the handset, plus built-in Wi-Fi for high-speed mobile web browsing and a Windows Mobile 6 OS.

Yet again The Carphone Warehouse has landed the exclusive for both handsets and like the Mandarina Duck clamshell, the Ted Baker duo will be available from free on contract around November time.

Just can not see this working, but hey stranger thing have happened.

I think Prada struggled because of the retail restrictions imposed.

Maybe if Ted Baker are a little more flexable it may give it a better chance but all in all the designer/mobile convergence does not work for me.

I think ipods and mobile phones are an extension of fashion anyway - they are all design orientated. I’m surprised even more designers aren’t doing this!

However if this phone is supposed to be a fashion accessory, I think the accessories to the phone are better looking than the phone itself. Come on Ted Baker, lets see some more funky designs in the future!
