We almost missed this one over the weekend… Which would have sucked, because above is the new Palm ‘Centro’, which was spotted in spy shots earlier this month. Now this official press image of the Centro has leaked from somewhere, somehow, to Gizmodo.
The Centro will be target at the yoof market, with a price point speculated to be around $99 (£50). But as Stefan at IntoMobile points out, isn’t this a bit late for Palm to be jumping on the BlackBerry bandwagon? That aside, the Centro is damned tiny, and we still reckon it’s not going to be much fun typing on those tiny keys. Expect an official announcement very soon.

Forget about exchange rate. If it costs $99 in US, it will cost £79 in UK.
Sure, but we were simply translating the US price into UK pounds. But remember that US prices, depending on which state you live in, usually have sales tax added to them. About £12 of a £79 purchase in the UK is 17.5% VAT, so the difference isn’t always as extreme as it might seem.
It doesn’t help, of course, that the US to UK exchange rate is two to one at the moment, either. Back when it was 1.6 dollars to the pound (not so long ago), by the time you took out the VAT you’d find that £79 and $99 were almost the same price.
