Memory boost takes the lag out of new N95, while N81 is ‘really loud’

N81That’s according to Gizmodo, which has picked up news that the revised N95’s increased 128MB RAM (not storage but system memory) has removed most if not all of the lag that plagues the original version’s operating system.

The Giz also notes that the N81’s (shown right) built-in speakers are ‘really loud’, emphasising again the new handset’s music and gaming features. The phone’s gaming ‘d-pad’ (digital pad) and sideways orientation for gameplay are said to feel fine, but right now there’s a lack of titles designed to make use of the latter.

Lastly, the other other N95, the one that’s been redesigned to work with American HSDPA, is said to have great network performance… But is leaving US buyers of the original version a little unhappy at their near-$1000 (£500) gadget being superseded in a matter of months. For the number of people likely to be affected, Nokia could win a big PR coup in the States by upgrading those older N95s for free.
