It’s time again to down tools and take a look at what has been happening game-wise over on our sister site Pocket Gamer over the last week.
The first game to go under the microscope was Age of Heroes III which despite making a valiant play for some orc based strategy only managed 6 out of 10 due to some sticky controls and an irritating interface.
Leaping into the breach next was Jump: Free Running, a game about talented though mentally unsound urban acrobats which despite a great control system fell short of the mark due to poor level design limping home with 6 out of 10.
Café Solitaire from the dependably excellent Digital Chocolate gave the week an early high of 9 out 10. Not just an excellent take on the classic card game Café Solitaire’s use of connectivity was the best the Pocket Gamer review crowd had ever seen on a mobile.
Taking the same Digital Chocolate connected mould and applying a different game, Café Sodoku also warranted a similarly high score of 8 out of 10.
Next up was Brain Coach, an unapologetic Brain Training me-too title that borrows and steals from its forebear in just the right measure to justify 7 out of 10.
A new low was hit with the completely unforgivable High School Musical, 2 points out of 10 worth of clunky dull and repetitive; not worth another single word.
Moving swiftly on, Tangram Super Shapes proved to be a flavourless puzzler but its wealth of content and modes earned saved it somewhat earning 6 out of 10.
Ending on a good strong 8 out of 10 was Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights. Laying claim to some decent controls and enough bling to bring a smile to the face of even the most disinterested of would be racers, Juiced 2 closed the week in style.
That’s it for now, check back next week for the next round-up.
