Pocket Picks‘ sources have indicated that all the talk of a new handset from Sony Ericsson — of a touch-screen ‘iPhone killer’ with no keyboard — may actually be wide of the mark. Codenamed ‘Mooi‘, rumours of the new SE handset has been doing the rounds since August, with the Esato board listing the device as a ‘High end candybar. A direct competitor to the iPhone. It will have a d-pad, and six buttons and no keypad, with a touchscreen for most functions.’Â
Our sources now indicate that the Mooi is in fact the W960, the heavyweight Walkman (with touch-screen) that was announced back in June. This news may come as something of a disappointment to Sony Ericsson fans, but it also seems that there is still a significant announcement coming 6th November at an event in London, and that SE music lovers should keep their ears open for further news…
