Yeah, that’s a nice headline. Okay, the iPod touch isn’t quite a mobile phone, but the prospect of being able to make Skype calls over wi-fi via the media player’s Safari web browser is rather interesting, don’t you think?
The service has been put together by Shape Services, maker of the popular all-in-one instant messaging client, IM+, and fits smack bang with the speculation about just such a possibility that we were bubbling with last month.
We’re assuming you need to obtain the iPhone’s headset to use this service — but even without that, the IM+ service brings Skype text chat to the iPod touch. To try it out, head over to s4iphone.com on your iPod touch’s Safari browser — head to Shape’s site to read more.

In what way will the call proceed?
A mic and headset are not needed as you need to set a callback number (a mobile or landline) to a real phone for voice calls.
i need any mobile or static phone to be nearby me (and my iPod Touch)? what if i couldn’t find any phone? Calls will be impossible for me?
