Orange is now the ‘official communications partner’ of the hit musical WICKED, which is currently running in London’s West End. Customers will be offered exclusive content, including behind the scenes video diaries filmed by lead Oliver Tompsett. Orange and WICKED are also launching a competition to win a walk-on part in the show itself.
WICKED is a musical about the backstory of the witches from the Wizard of Oz. In the 12 months since it opened over 850,000 people have seen it, grossing over £30m at the box office.
Obviously WICKED’s success is what attracted Orange to get involved, but outside of London its hard to see the operator generating huge amounts of interest among its subscribers.
Orange’s competition – Wannabe Wicked – calls for Orange users to send in video clips of themselves singing songs. The winner will be picked from a series of public votes on Orange World. Semi finalists will then have to audition in front of theatre experts included WICKED exec producer Michael McCabe. Beats spending years honing your craft at drama school…
