Eco-action group Greenpeace yesterday launched a take-over attempt on the Kingsnorth power station in Kent, England, to protest plans to build a new coal-fired station on the site after the current one has closed.
Why is this mobile news? Because as part of the protest, Greenpeace moblogged (blogging using your mobile phone, in case you didn’t know) its actions, posting images and videos on its pages at moblog:UK. Shots such as the one right (taken with a Sony K750i, according to its EXIF data) and clips of the protesters’ dramatic climb of the station’s 200m chimney.
It’s interesting to see the power of using mobile technology to spread news via the internet; and sad to read that in Burma/ Myanmar, the crackdown on mobile and satellite phone use continues.
