Root and rummage in your S60 handset with Nokia Device Status

Nokia device statusNokia’s ever-busy Beta Labs team has just released a beta of its new PC application, Nokia Device Status. The app’s premise is pretty simple: it’s a diagnostic tool to tell you everything there is to know about your S60 handset.

Nokia Device Status will spit out memory usage, firmware version number, IMEI number, and similar techno jazz. One of the app’s nice features is that it allows you to drag ‘n’ drop your phone’s info straight into an email, so if you’re having problems with your phone you can easily send detailed info to Nokia.

The Big N is thinking about integrating Device Status with its customer care team, which seems like a sensible-ish idea (although in that case it’d be better if it was an in-browser app rather than a download). The Beta Labs team is looking for your feedback too, so if you have a PC and an S60 device, check out and download the app from here.

Update Oct 24th: Device Status is now available as a standalone S60 3rd Edition app.
