Microsoft updates Live Search for Windows Mobile and BlackBerry

Microsoft Live Search

As part of its ongoing revamp of its Live services, Microsoft has just announced beta versions of Live Search Mobile for both Windows Mobile and BlackBerries. The new downloadable apps offer a broad range of location-based info (presumably initially in the US only?), with maps, local data, and even driving directions displayed on your mobile. Live Search comes in three flavours:

  • Live Search for Windows Mobile for WM5 and WM6 now includes voice input, gas prices, and hours of operation for businesses. The service can also use GPS data on GPS-enabled phones to provide location-aware local search.
  • Live Search for use with BlackBerry Devices is a new offering designed for use on BlackBerry OS 4.0.2 or later phones, and those with GPS-enabled phones can again get location-based searches.
  • There’s also a web-based version that’s accessible via any mobile browser — just point it at m.live.com

To download the BlackBerry and Windows Mobile apps, direct your mobile browser to wls.live.com or read more online at www.livesearchmobile.com
