As part of its ongoing revamp of its Live services, Microsoft has just announced beta versions of Live Search Mobile for both Windows Mobile and BlackBerries. The new downloadable apps offer a broad range of location-based info (presumably initially in the US only?), with maps, local data, and even driving directions displayed on your mobile. Live Search comes in three flavours:
- Live Search for Windows Mobile for WM5 and WM6 now includes voice input, gas prices, and hours of operation for businesses. The service can also use GPS data on GPS-enabled phones to provide location-aware local search.
- Live Search for use with BlackBerry Devices is a new offering designed for use on BlackBerry OS 4.0.2 or later phones, and those with GPS-enabled phones can again get location-based searches.
- There’s also a web-based version that’s accessible via any mobile browser — just point it at m.live.com
