EQO mobile VoIP now on Symbian and Windows Mobile

wmcall2.jpgEQO, a VoIP, text and instant messaging application, has been officially released for Symbian smartphones, and a Windows Mobile version has entered Beta testing stage.

EQO (pronounced “echo”) lets users make international Internet calls for as little as 1.2p/minute, with cheap texts and free access to instant messaging services like MSN, AIM, Yahoo! and Google Talk.

By using EQO, Symbian smartphone users can save up to 95% on their international calls to both landlines and mobile phones, and to 70% on international text messages, although calls and texts between EQO users are free.

Until now EQO has been a simple Java application users can download to their phone and more handsets are being supported all the time. Now Symbian and soon Windows Mobil platforms will be supported.

One cool feature is that once EQO is downloaded to their phone, users can automatically import their existing contacts into their EQO phonebook and see which contacts are online or available for a call, receive a text or chat using instant messaging.

If you want to take part in the Beta trials of the service or see if your handset is compatible, log onto the EQO website.
