Ex-SAS soldier turned author Andy McNab’s latest book, Crossfire, is being promoted in the UK using a novel (geddit!) marketing concept. By texting a number shown on promotional posters, interested punters can receive the first chapter of McNab’s book on their phone in either text or audio format.

If you like the first chapter you can then order the full version to read — although we’re presuming you probably won’t want to read an entire book on your mobile. But altogether this is an interesting way to draw new readers into the McNab camp.
