Google Docs&Spreadsheets now available on mobiles

capture_22102007_111150.jpgGmail got the upgrade treatment last week and now the internet titan, Google, has launched a mobile version of its Docs&Spreadsheets service.

For those of you not in the know, Google’s Docs&Spreadsheets service allows you to look at email attached documents online quickly without having to open them in their native program i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel etc.

So far any docs opened with the mobile version of the service are read-only and cannot be modified. Text documents apparently work best displaying roughly as they would on your computer but spreadsheets have been gimped somewhat as you can only view one column at a time.

Still, seeing as most mobile phones can’t run complex office utility programs natively, access to attachments via email while on the move is often impossible and being able to view them via a web browser will no doubt prove to be extremely handy for upwardly mobile business types.
