Vlingo to bring voice recognition to mobile apps

logo.gifFancy a voice controlled mobile browser? How about being able to navigate your FaceBook pictures just by saying the names of the people in them? Sound like a good idea?

Vlingo thinks so as the company is on the cusp of releasing a developer program for mobile application providers that allows developers to integrate all sorts of fancy pants voice controlled interface options. The great thing is that it is good and cheap to use so expect a slew of mobile applications to take advantage of the tech over the next year.

What a good idea and a nice alternative to touchscreen interfaces. Mind you, people already look as though they have taken leave of their senses and are talking to themselves when using a Bluetooth headset so the sight of people talking to their phones rather than into them might seem especially strange (though round pocket gamer way some of us can often be seen whispering sweet nothings to our handsets).
