Over 400,000 members of the ad-funded mobile content community itsmy.com have shared an incredible 3.1 million pieces of content in its user-personalised ‘mash-up’ service.
Gofresh, the company behind itsmy.com, is fast developing a mobile-only version of sites like Facebook and Bebo, by letting users share content posted by others and add their favourite content to their personal pages or ‘mash-ups’.
Next month Gofresh, will link all personal mash up sites together with the aim of creating interest groups among users. An enhanced content search tool will also be released, making it easy for users to find the exact pieces of content they’re most interested in.
Gofresh’s claims about itsmy.com’s growth provide more interesting information than the numbers above. They point to a possible avenue for the development of shared mobile content services.
The people behind the community claim that the most popular shared contents are user-generated videos, followed by users’ pictures and then moblogs. However, the highest growth in mobile sharing was seen in people sending each other links to cool mobile content sites.
