Mobile recycling company Fonebak is doing its bit for this year’s BBC Children In Need charity drive, but donating £5 for every reusable phone sent in by mobile users.
Basically, you can do your bit for charity by popping your old or unused mobile phones into special envelopes marked simply ‘Freepost Fonebak’, and they’ll find their way to Fonebak for recycling.
Fonebak did something similar last year by recycling envelopes and raised over £320,000 for BBC Children In Need. Naturally Fonebak wants to do better this year.
Every year 18 million phones are replaced in the UK and there are about 90 million gathering dust in drawers - that’s more than 1.5 phones for every person.
If you want to get one of the special envelopes, don’t worry, because over the next five weeks brightly-coloured Freepost envelopes with Pudsey on the front will be inserted into local newspapers, magazines and Children In Need fundraising packs.
